Parking Lot Striping in Shreveport, LA

A1 Asphalt Shreveport stripes commercial and multi-family parking lots across Shreveport, Bossier City, and the broader Ark-La-Tex. Striping looks simple from the parking space, but a properly laid-out lot is the difference between maximum stall count, code-compliant ADA access, and a layout that flows — and a lot where customers can't find a space, fire lanes aren't right, and the inspector flags you on the next walk-through. Call (318) 610-7967 to schedule a layout review.

Layout, Compliance, and Maximizing Usable Stalls

Most lots we restripe have been laid out twice in their lifetime — once when the property was built, and once when we measure them now and find that the original layout was wasting 5 to 15 percent of available capacity. Stall width and depth, drive aisle widths, ADA space-and-aisle dimensions, fire lane widths, and end-cap radii all have standard values, and most original layouts were drawn before current standards. A fresh layout almost always picks up additional usable stalls without changing the lot's geometry. We measure the lot, run the layout against current ADA requirements (including the right number of accessible spaces, properly sized access aisles, and van-accessible designations), confirm fire-lane widths and turning radii with local code, and lay out drive aisles for actual traffic flow. The result is a lot that's compliant, efficient, and easy to navigate.

Traffic Paint vs. Thermoplastic — Choosing the Right Material

Standard parking lots use water-based or solvent-based traffic paint, which is fast to apply, dries quickly, and gives 1 to 3 years of service depending on traffic volume and Shreveport sun exposure. For high-traffic commercial lots, fire lanes, and crosswalks where durability matters more than initial cost, we recommend thermoplastic — a hot-applied plastic material that bonds chemically with the asphalt surface and delivers 5 to 8 years of service with much better resistance to UV fading and tire wear. We use thermoplastic where it makes economic sense (fire lanes, high-frequency crosswalks, key directional markings) and paint where the application doesn't justify the higher up-front cost. Both materials are applied with edge-guided striping equipment for sharp, straight lines, and both stripe over a clean surface — sealcoat ash and oil residue both prevent paint adhesion and have to be cleaned before lines go down.

Striping After Sealcoat, and Why Timing Matters

If you're sealcoating and striping in the same project, sequence matters. Sealcoat has to cure fully before paint goes down — typically 24 to 48 hours depending on temperature and humidity, longer in Shreveport's humid summer weather. Striping over uncured sealcoat doesn't bond and will peel within months. We schedule the two services as a coordinated pair: sealcoat goes down, the lot cures overnight or over a weekend, and striping follows when the surface is ready to bond. The result is a clean black lot with sharp white-and-yellow lines and an ADA layout that meets code — and a single coordinated project schedule that minimizes business interruption rather than dragging the work out over two separate visits.

Signs Your Lot Needs Restriping

Faded lines aren't just cosmetic — they're a liability and a code issue. These are the signs to watch.

⚠️

Lines Faded to Pale Yellow or Gray

UV exhaustion of traffic paint typically shows after 12 to 24 months. Restripe before lines disappear and drivers improvise their own layout.

⚠️

ADA Signage or Access Aisle Issues

Updated ADA requirements may have changed since the last striping. A restripe is the right time to verify and bring the layout to code.

⚠️

Lot Was Just Sealcoated

Fresh sealcoat covers existing stripes. Plan the restripe as part of the sealcoat project to keep the lot usable and code-compliant.

⚠️

Layout Doesn't Match Current Traffic

If the lot was striped for a different tenant or use, restriping is the chance to redesign for actual traffic flow and stall demand.

How We Stripe

A four-step sequence that delivers sharp, compliant, durable layouts.

1

Measure and Design

We measure the lot, audit ADA and fire-lane requirements, and draft a layout that maximizes stalls and meets current code.

2

Prep the Surface

Surface is cleaned of dust, debris, and oil residue. Fresh sealcoat is given full cure time before any paint goes down.

3

Stripe and Mark

Lines are applied with edge-guided striping equipment using traffic paint or thermoplastic per the project spec.

4

Inspect and Walk-Through

Final layout is inspected against code requirements, and the finished lot is walked with the property owner before reopening.
